چکیده
Aim: To determine the frequency of hyperhomocysteinemia in young (≤ 45 years) patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke at Tertiary Care Hospital, Karachi. Methodology: The cross-sectional study was conducted Department Neurology and Medicine, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center Karachi from 1st February 2021 to 31st July 2021. Patients' data collected after a verbal consent obtained. diagnostic criteria were met by 119 cases. Results: Mean age, duration stroke, body mass index, height, weight homocysteine level 38.41±4.58 years, 6.54±3.91 hours, 28.66±3.51 kg/m2, 151±10.25 cm, 71.8±11.69 kg 10.7±3.42 µmol/L. Fifty four (45.4%) 65 (54.6%) male female. nine (49.6%) 60 (50.4%) had did not have hyperhomocysteinemia. Conclusion: 49.6% hyperhomocysteinaemia, modifiable risk factor for stroke. Therefore close monitoring must be done all regular follow-up. Keywords: Acute Young patients, Hyperhomocysteinemia

Hyperhomocysteinemia and hypofibrinolysis in young adults with ischemic stroke.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Data from epidemiological and case-control studies suggest that increased total homocysteine (tHcy) levels are associated with increased risk for thromboembolic disease. The mechanisms by which hyperhomocysteinemia contributes to thrombogenesis are incompletely understood. The main objectives of this study of young ischemic stroke patients were (1) to examine fasting and ...
متن کاملdysphagia in acute ischemic stroke
Introduction: Swallowing dysfunction complicates acute strokes in 25-32% of cases and directly affects patientschr('39') prognosis and recovery. Dysphagia complicates the course of acute strokes through its potential of the development of chest infection, nutritional problems, and dehydration. Dysphagia is also an independent predictor of respiratory morbidity and mortality in acute stroke. In...

Background: Thrombolytic therapy is the only approved treatment for acute cerebral ischemia. The hemorrhagic transformation is the greatest complication of this treatment, which may occur after recanalization of occluded artery. The aim of this study was to determine factors associated with clinical improvement and worsening in patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with intravenous th...
متن کاملInvestigation the frequency of asymptomatic hemorrhagic transformation of infarction in CT scan of acute ischemic stroke patients
Background: Asymptomatic hemorrhagic transformation infarct (AHTI) is known as a complication of ischemic attack and maybe occurs in the entire stroke. However, the role of AHTI in the result of the treatment is still not clear, because it is based on the definition of an asymptomatic and not identifiable. The aim of this study was assessment and evaluation frequency of AHTI in acute ischemic s...
